My Computer Science Superheroes

Karlheinz Brandenburg 1954-Present

Major Academic Accomplishments: He went to school at the University of Erlangen in Germany, during his postgraduate stay at Erlangen his doctorate advisor was working on a new form of audio compression and transportation, Karlheinz would be asked to assist with the project and would soon create the audio compression technology known as mp3 Contributions to CS: He pioneered the field of audio compression and through his research he created the technology required to fuel the modern music industry

Ajay Bhatt 1957-present

Major Academic Accomplishments: He went to school at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, he would major in electrical engineering and then proceed to work at Intel, during his time at intel he found problems with the fact that there was no universal port connection system so he set out with a team of researchers to create one, he would eventually succeed and create the technology we know today as USB

Contributions to CS: He created the USB port which is how we are able to connect any type of peripheral to any computer without unnecessary adapters

Alan Turing

Major Academic Accomplishmments: Alan Turing attended the prestigious Princeton University where he studied mathematics, after his graduation he would go on to work for the Royal Armies code breaking division
Contributions to CS: He is credited with the creation of the first computing machine, he created the machine to counter and crack the German Enigma code which was thought to be unbreakable at the time, his contributions saved hundreds if not thousands of lives. And shortened the war exponentially
